Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) Has A Fleet Of 300 Buses, Move Over 42,000 Passengers Daily

LBSL has a fleet of 300 buses, moves over 42,266 passengers daily with an average of 1000 bus trips per day. 

Between May 2019 and February 2025, Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) moved over 60 million (60,882,000) passengers.

LASG claims LBSL average fare has been N261.67 cheaper than the average fares of informal public transport in Lagos.

It adds that LBSL has implicitly subsidized fares for the Lagosians transported to an estimated sum of N14.9 billion.

At the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing on Monday May 11, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has moved over 60 million (60,882,000) passengers across the state from May 2019 till February 2025.

Osiyemi also revealed that the LBSL currently moves over 42,266 passengers daily with an average of 1000 bus trips per day, adding that the bus network now covers all five IBILE divisions and 13 Local Government Areas, including Ibeju-Lekki, Ojo and Ikorodu.

“LBSL currently maintains the widest public bus network coverage in Lagos State, operating across all five IBILE divisions and 13 Local Government Areas,” the Commissioner for Transportation said.

In terms of affordability, he said since inception, the LBSL average fare has been N261.67 cheaper than the average fares of informal public transport in Lagos, adding that LBSL has implicitly subsidized fares for the Lagosians transported to an estimated sum of N14.9 billion.

Currently, the agency operates 21 corridors and over 40 bus service routes across the State, supported by six (6) depot facilities and a fleet strength of 300 buses, thereby enhancing connectivity, accessibility, and integrated urban mobility for Lagos residents.

“The achievements reflect the commitment of the Sanwo-Olu administration towards building an integrated, safe, affordable and efficient transportation system for Lagosians in line with the THEMES+ Agenda,” Osiyemi said.
